Event rules

Discrimination and the violation of personal boundaries are happening every day in our society. Racist or sexist comments and jokes, heteronormative assumptions or touching someone without their consent are just a few examples.

We cannot and do not want to accept this. Instead, let’s try to make it the safest space as possible for everyone. We ask you to be considerate of each other and to take on responsibility together throughout the event. We want everyone to feel good and to be able to express freely, but without violating the boundaries of others.

Violence or the threat of violence, verbal or physical harassment, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and racist comments or any kind of boundary crossing behavior will not be tolerated during the NCMC 2023.

We will decide how to deal with such incidents based on the specific situation. However, if people fundamentally resist treating each other with respect, we will suspend or expel them from the event.

Race rules

Total race time is 2.5 hrs, the person with the most points wins.

No helmet, no race. A messenger carries stuff for work, you are going to haul stuff during the race, you would go to work without a bag? Bring a big one!

You earn points by completing manifests, in order to get the next manifest you need to complete the previous one. Every stop counts as one point, you will not get minus points for making a pick up and not completing the drop off.

On top of each manifest there will be a field for you name and race number, remember to fill this in, the checkpoints won’t let you proceed if this isn’t done and will send you to the back of the line. There will also be a number of maximum points on each manifest, any extra points will not count.

You will get a passport manifest at the start of the race, before you can hand in each manifest you need to complete the passport task linked to that manifest, you can do these passport tasks whenever you want, but will only get points for the tasks linked to you completed manifests at the end of the race. Some passport checkpoint stamps serve as time stamps, they are marked with an extra dotted box under the stamp. At these you need to leave your passport with the checkpoint for 10 minutes before you can pick it up and get the stamp. You don’t need to wait at the checkpoint if you don’t want to.

At HQ there will be two different service desks, one serve as a manifest swapping station and one as a normal checkpoint, if super busy there will be separete lines for these desks. In the middle of the competition the amount of new manifests will start being limited, so only a certain amount of riders will be allowed to continue.

If two people scores the same the winner will be the one to first hand in their manifests, the overall winner will get the NCMC title, this year the best Swede in each class (or if you have worked in sweden as a messenger) will get the Swedish champion title.

The race area, Lövholmen is fairly low traffic on weekends, the race is not on a closed course, be careful in blind turns and don’t be an A-hole. Bad behavior will lead to disqualification, be respectful to your surroundings. The area around Liljeholmen Centrum marked “NO RACE ZONE” on the map is totally off limits for racing, it won’t save you time to go through there.

All manifests handed in late will not count, and in that case your points will be based on your previous manifest, the HQ entrance will close exactly 2.5 hrs after start, as long as you are inside the HQ within that time you are safe.
